CIP stations

Sanitation (cleaning) food equipment (amongst others) and operations are one of the conditions for maintaining product quality and its shelf life. Thorough emphasis on hygiene and documentation of cleaning processes are also conditions for entering demanding markets. CIP stations are used in almost every field of the food industry.

Temperature:

Temperature plays a fundamental role in each type of sanitation solution, and from which the exposition time of sanitation is derived.
For sanitation equipment, the following temperature ranges are common:

 Temperature Technology
Under cold temps. kvass tanks, lager tanks
up to 40°C pressure tanks, fillers, special tanks and equipment
50 - 70°C tanks for collecting milk, receipt tanks tanks for milk, cream, cottage cheese and yogurt, fillers, processing equipment in beverage technology and the pharmaceutical industry
70 - 90°C cooking vessels, straining and mashing tuns, wort chillers, milk heaters, pasteurizers, several pipelines, processing equipment in beverage technology, chemical and pharmaceutical industry

Time/ duration of sanitation – exposition time:

  • The time it takes for the sanitation solution to work, means the contact time of the cleaning solution with the impurity in the right concentration and the right temperature.
  • An important condition for the quality of the sanitation process.

CIP system elements:

A prerequisite for successful sanitation is correct design calculations, specifications of all CIP elements, knowledge of the course of production and objects intended for sanitation. Naturally, this also includes knowledge of the chemistry of cleaning.

Storage tanks

Storage tanks are used in cases of repeated application of the cleaning solution. Apart from regular equipment, storage tanks should also be fitted with:

  • swirl-type nozzle for self-cleaning
  • decanting device
  • electric or pneumatic device for measuring the volume

Valves/hinged flaps

  • Use of pneumatic controllable valves or flaps
  • Manual or mechanical control of control elements can be used

Pumps

  • Spark centrifugal pumps are used in the system,
  • new tip – self-priming pumps for pumping sanitizing solutions back into the CIP.

Heating unit

  • Cleaning solutions are heated by heat converters of various types
  • Heating is conducted by steam, hot water, or electricity in some cases

Regulation and measuring of quantity

It is applied in variable circuits where the volumes of sanitizing solution can change and also in dosing solutions which are either not measurable by technically or even costly devices.

Dosing stations

  • Reduces the threat of injury in handling sanitizing solutions,
  • Dosing pumps are used for preparing new fillings for storage tanks and for adding concentrations or preparing solutions for lost or partially reversible sanitation.

Rinsing equipment / rinsing nozzle

  • Various types of rinsing equipment are used – fixed, rotating etc.
  • Today, firmly installed, non-rotating low-pressure rinsing nozzles are an optimum solution for spraying cleaning solutions for CIP-sanitation.

Measuring and regulation devices

  • Ensure proper course of the cleaning cycle
  • By applying automatic control of the sanitation process, you gain considerable advantages of unattended operations, when sanitation, programme type and parameters of the sanitation process can be launched remotely directly from the sanitized technology or the master system.
  • An important factor is the certainty that parameters of the sanitation process are adhered to, a record is kept, and sanitation data is processed and archived for the specific equipment for product certification or any other possible use.
